Like ‘macro-nutrients’ there are ‘micro-nutrients’ as vitamins and minerals which are equally important.
No macro-nutrient will benefit without consuming vitamins and minerals. Even these nutrients fall under the category of essential nutrients.
The term ‘micro’ is used to describe these nutrients, as your body needs them in smaller amounts. They are essential nutrients as the body is unable to produce them on its own except few. The content of each micro-nutrient in food varies so its best to consume a variety of foods to get the most nutrients out of them.
Water and fibre are equally important nutrients along with the essential nutrients mentioned so far. They come under the category of essential nutrients.
